Post Potfest in the Pens

Yesterday I returned from Penrith, as I was holding a stand at Potfest in the Pens. I loved Potfest when I first visited three years ago, and this year I had the great opportunity to sell there myself. It was a great success and definitely a place I would like to continue to return to. Not only was I surrounded by creative like-minded people, everybody including the returning public were so welcoming. Other exhibiters included beginners, and experienced ceramists/potters, which created a great dynamic and a community feel.

As a stall holder there, I found this event to have quite a social side. To bring the potters closer together, and create a close community there was a 'pot swap'. This gave us the opportunity to network in a fun way.. as we were unsure which pot we would end up with, and take home a piece of somebody else's work. There was also an arranged meal one night, after this two course meal there prizes given, and revealing the winner of the 'Avian Architecture' competition piece.

All in all, I definitely would like to apply again at Potfest in the Pens next year. As it is my first year making and selling my own ceramic work, I was encouraged by other makers to keep persevering.
